What we list
Every directory has a rule. Most keep it private, which is how a site ends up claiming two thousand events. Ours is published, and we hold ourselves to it.
The rule
A race is listed if it is all of these:
- An organised race. Entry, a date, a route, a finish. Not a challenge you can attempt whenever you like.
- Over 26.2 miles, or a timed race of 6 hours or more, or a backyard ultra.
- In the UK, Northern Ireland or the Crown dependencies. The Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey count. Most calendars stop at the Irish Sea.
We currently list 17 events and 31 ultra races.
What we deliberately leave out
- Looped series. Some organisers run the same lapped course monthly. Listing each date as an event inflates a count without helping anybody choose a race. We hold them as one entry and show the series instead.
- Sub-ultra sister races. A 25-mile race at an ultra weekend is useful context, so it appears in the event's race table, but it is not counted as an ultra and does not appear in filters.
- Virtual and self-navigated challenges. No fixed date, no start line.
Events that have stopped running keep their page, marked dormant or discontinued, but leave the directory. Deleting the page would break every link to it.
Think we have it wrong?
If a race meets the rule and is not here, that is a gap and we want to know. Search first, then use the "tell us what we're missing" box on any empty result.
